Most aluminium, glass, plastic and liquid paperboard drink containers between 150mL and 3 litres earn a 10c refund. Look for the 10c mark on the label, usually near the barcode. Lids can stay on, and containers should not be crushed because most refund points cannot accept them once they are.

What can be returned
Carbonated drinks
Most carbonated water, flavoured water, soft drink and energy drink bottles and cans between 200mL and 750mL.
Juice
Most fruit and vegetable juice bottles, cans and cartons between 150mL and 1 litre. Some containers larger than 1 litre are not eligible.
Beer and cider
Most beer and cider bottles, cans and cartons between 150mL and 1 litre.
Flavoured milk
Most flavoured milk bottles and cartons between 150mL and 750mL, including cans of coffee. Containers of 1 litre or more are not eligible.
Water and sports drinks
Most non-carbonated water, soft drink and sports drink bottles and cans between 150mL and 3 litres.
A couple of tips
Leave the lids on, they are recycled too. Do not crush containers, because most refund points cannot accept a crushed one.
What cannot be returned
Containers under 150mL or over 3 litres are generally excluded, along with the categories below. Most can still go in a kerbside recycling bin.
Plain milk
Plain milk containers of any size, including plant-based milk substitutes.
Cordial and syrup
Concentrated or undiluted cordial and syrup containers.
Wine and spirits
Glass wine and pure spirit bottles, including single-serve formats, and wine sachets above 250mL.
Health tonics
Registered health tonics, including probiotic shots under 150mL.
